The snow has finally thawed and patio season is nearly here which can only mean one thing: it’s derby season, baby. The Hammer City Roller Derby squad is ready to kick off their 14th season this weekend. This Saturday (May 11th) at Dave Andreychuk arena, Hammer City’s finest will take on the Renegade Derby Dames.
If you’ve never had the pleasure of watching a roller derby game live – you should consider adding that to your summer ’19 to do list. The game is fast and athletic and is a fun spectator event. The audience isn’t made up of the types of stereotypical aggressive and intense fans as you may find at other sporting events, which is a great bonus. Even if you aren’t a ‘sports person’ you will likely enjoy live roller derby. Besides all that the players are badasses and come up with really fun derby names. You can find a list of athletes and names here.
Not only are the folks at Hammer City Roller Derby tremendous athletes they are involved members of the community. Check out some of the causes the team has gotten behind.
Game tickets are $15. Fans 17 years and under are free with a paid adult.
Seasons passes are also available at the venue on game day for $30 for all 3 home games. Get them via Eventbrite or at the venue on game day.
