Inspired by his childhood home in suburban Montreal, Photographer Francis Fougere is bringing his latest photo series “The Carports of Pleasant Valley” to the Dundas Carnegie Gallery from June 2nd to the 25th.
With just a quick visit to either Pleasant Valley or Little John Street, it’s easy to see the inspiration behind this exhibition.
As Fourgere states:
“The post war years produced a need for lots of new housing. The CHMC commissioned a number of architects to create drawings for suburban single-family dwellings that could be bought for very modest sums. These housing catalogues from the late 40s to the mid 60s have mostly been put online and look very familiar in the Dundas neighbourhoods.”
The exhibition includes 15 of the 22 prints he’s created for this series. The framed images, which are for sale, will be 28 x 22 inches.
Opening reception with the artist takes place on Friday, June 2nd from 7-9:3OPM.
