Each week, we’re taking turns to share a list of hand-picked events we think are worth your time. Here are our choices for the week ahead.
Friday, November 16
Cinquefoil #12: Dissonance
8:00 p.m. — Church of St. John the Evangelist (Rock On Locke)
Now in its second season, Cinquefoil runs bi-monthly but the format is the same – 5 artists, 10 minute sets, 1 theme. The live music series is your chance to be exposed to music you may not otherwise see; it’s a mix of singer-songwriters as well as classical musicians. Bonus: there’s Fairweather craft beer on hand for a little Booze in the Pews, as Cinquefoil organizer Steve McKay likes to say! (More info)

Scott Orr, Fanny Price, Essen
8:00 p.m. — The Mule Spinner
The fall season of Live At The Mule Spinner (11 Landsdowne Ave; part of The Cotton Factory) continues with a showcase of artists from local label Other Songs. Experience Scott Orr, Fanny Price, and Essen (think singer-songwriter/folk artists with electronic elements in the case of Essen). The fall show lineups are curated by I Heart Hamilton and sponsored by Shawn & Ed Brewing, Hamilton Arts Council and The Cotton Factory. (More info)
