Hamilton’s culinary scene is in a constant boom, which is quite obvious by all the new restaurants and food ventures we continuously see opening in and around the city. Below are some new hotspots that we can expect to see opening over the next little while.
Donut Monster
246 Locke Street South
The new joint at the corner of Locke and Charlton will be a dedicated Donut Monster shop that will offer a larger selection and variety of donuts, specialty milkshakes, and craft coffee 7 days a week from 7am – 4pm. The 30 seat cafe will allow customers to enjoy their visit while looking out on Locke street through floor to ceiling windows. The Donut Monster team will still be working with retail partners to distribute donuts throughout Hamilton and beyond.

Caro
4 Ottawa Street North
Located in the former BBQ Chicken joint on the corner of Ottawa and Main, Caro is aiming to be a part of the fabric of the neighbourhood; your go to Italian spot for all occasions – first date, a quick cocktail or with the family. Caro will offer both classic and contemporary Italian fair in a casual, modern setting.
Expect them: Estimated Late Fall.

Boon Burger
295 Ottawa St N Hamilton ON L8H 3Z8
Boon Burger offers a 100% animal-free, plant based menu with a large part of the menu being organic, local or fair-trade. Boon Burger offers everything that a mainstream burger joint would offer, from a Bacun Cheeze burger, Poutine, Chili Cheeze dogs to Soft Serve. Their food is all made from scratch and they do not use any deep fryers or microwaves. Plus they recycle or compost all of their waste! They’re sure to be a welcome addition to Ottawa Street and the Hamilton vegan scene.

Crudo 150
3rd floor of the Mezcal Building at 150 James Street South
Crudo will serve up new innovative raw cuisine, from land, sea and field with creative cocktails, wine and champagne to pair with it. Exposed brick and stone as well as crown moulding from the 1890s will surround the space, creating an elegant classy victorian-era style atmosphere.

Delirious Burger
197 Locke Street South
You most likely already know them from their popular Westdale location – the local and independently-owned burger restaurant, Delirious Burger, serves up the classics. You won’t find crazy toppings or over-the-top huge burgers here, just delicious, down to earth, delirious burgers. Now on Locke!

Kenzo Ramen
21 King Street East
Kenzo Ramen is known for their famous noodles that are freshly made in the restaurant. Their soup broth is stewed for 24 hours for a rich and unforgettable taste. Read more at Hamilton Small Fries

Patties Burgers

At Patties Burger Bar, it’s all about the beef. They use only the very best, freshly-ground prime rib to create a burger you won’t forget. At Patties, they pride themselves on creating a memorable experience, a new spin on the classic mom and pop restaurant. They are family owned and operated and you’ll notice that most of their menu items are named after friends and family.

Doughboy Donuts
635 Greenhill Avenue, Hamilton, ON
Doughboy Donuts will serve up fresh donuts every day made in-house, in a variety of different flavours – 13 to be exact. On top of their existing flavour variety, they will rotate their menu seasonally, dishing out flavours like Nutella Rocky Road and Peaches and Cream.

Maracaz Cantinerie
612 Upper James St, Hamilton, ON
Located in the former Loma location on the North end of Upper James, you’ll find the new Maracaz Cantinerie. Launching off their success in Burlington with the same Maracaz restaurant concept, they now aim to provide “tacoz, nachoz & burritoz” to the city of Hamilton.

Mister Mojo’s Microcreamery
156 James Street South
The old Cafe Augusta is being transformed into a colourful carnival, full of soft serve ice cream and clowns! (Yeah, you heard us right.) Their soft serve flavours are sure to be fun and innovative with options like the Cirque Cone (Cotton Candy, chocolate pretzels and caramel corn) and Fireside Smores! We can’t wait to hear more.

Yakitoreh – Pop Up
Address: No brick and mortar, the Yakitoreh team will be wherever they can and are open to having hosts contact them.
Yakitoreh is a yakitori inspired pop up/ catering series focusing around charcoal grilled skewers. They will be rotating seasonal veg with lots of beak-to-tail chicken, but there will also be seafood, beef, pork and lots of other fun stuff.
Expect them: First public pop up during NOSH week 2017, location and date pending.
