On the edge of the popular Locke Street South neighbourhood is the restaurant that has been a mainstay on the street for over 30 years; Beasley House Bistro.
As the first building on Locke street, the red-brick century home that Beasley House Bistro calls home is set on the historic home-site of Richard Beasley, a founding father of the city of Hamilton. For the past 30 years, the bistro has been a favourite of Hamiltonians. When the Bistro is mentioned to Hamiltonians, it spurs many a story of eating and drinking there during college and university years, or fond memories of visits to the Beasley House Bistro.
Not only is Beasley House Bistro the first building on Locke, along the South-side of the century home is the first licensed patio on Locke Street; with seating for over 30 people.
Walking up to the restaurant, the patio is one of the first things you’ll notice; the second: the fading vintage Beasley House Bistro sign on the side of the building; a sign of the Hamilton of the past.
The interior is a bit of a hodge-podge of décor, with an authentic warm-wood bar on the left showing sports on a few big screen tvs, and a quaint dining room on the left – partially decorated with glass block and vintage carpets, and partially decorated with a modern stone feature wall.
The menu matches the interior, with everything from bar favourites like their popular Wings and Nachos, to Burgers and Fries, to Striploin Steaks and Pastas. Their menu is split up into four sections: Starters, Salads, Sandwiches/Burgers and Mains, with a daily feature soup, crepe feature and entrée feature changing each day.
Call-outs on the menu include their Yukon Gold Fries (which are the slightly battered/double fried kind!), Chicken Wings and Nachos.
The eclectic atmosphere and menu of Beasley House Bistro make it an ideal environment for any event you’re looking to enjoy, from a chill night of drinks at the pub, to a business lunch or fish and chip dinner.
